Yacht Charter in The Ionian

The Ionion can be naturally divided into two halves, the Southern Ionian and the Northern Ionian. An excellent starting point for a cruise around either area is Lefkas, 20 minutes away from the airport at Preveza and right in the heart of this beautiful area. A one week charter will enable you to visit many of the mainland ports and islands of the Northern Ionian whereas a two week cruise will allow you to visit lush island of Corfu. The more sheltered Southern Ionian has more islands such as the beautiful Isles of Meganisi, Kefalonia and Ithaka within easy day sails making it a perfect destination for first time charterers.

Fiskado

The islands of Lefkas and Meganisi are still largely undiscovered by tourists and so you will get an authentic Greek experience when you visit. A two week charter will allow you to travel further south and visit some of the smaller islands. The Ionian Seas offer a stunning combination of cruising opportunities. At one extreme you can still discover uninhabited islands and hidden away coves. At the other you have harbours full of Venetian charm and sophistication. In between you will find translucent waters, short passages and clement conditions ideal for the more relaxed sailor.

Temple of Sounion

Each island and every port of call has it’s own unique allure as part of the patchwork Ionian experience. You can swim in iridescent waters, explore timeless villages set amongst olive groves and vineyards, and indulge in the tastes and flavours of native Greece in traditional tavernas and lively bars. It’s a wonderful fusion of ease and adventure.

The Weather

Sunshine can virtually be guaranteed between early May and late October with temperatures ranging from the low 70′s in early season to low 90′s from late June to August.

Sailing Conditions

The Northern Ionian offers slightly more challenging sailing with occasional longer crossings and with more varied winds. Winds in the Southern Ionian are typically force 2-4 allowing for a leisurely sailing holiday especially suited to ‘first timers’.
